It is wonderful to know we have been set free from the law of sin and death.  It is glorious to know we never again have to submit to the slavery of sin.  However, what do we do when, in spite of those wonderful, glorious truths, we still miss the mark?  What do we do when we stumble and fall into sin?

We run to our Father and we repent!

That sounds simple.  Yet, oddly enough, we often do just the opposite.  Instead of running to God, we let our fear and guilt drive us further and further away from Him.  We start thinking things like, ‘Well, I have missed it now.  I might as well forget about the rest of it and live like the devil’.

Do not make that mistake.  Do not let satan talk you into sinning in another area of your life just because you stumbled in one area.  When we get off track with God, we just need to confess it and get right back on.

“But I feel so guilty when I tell God what I have done that it is hard for me to make myself do it”.

I know.  I used to feel that way too.  Then, one day, God said to me, “When you confessed that sin was not when I found out about it.  I knew about it all the time!  When you confessed that sin was when you got rid of it, and also when you were cleansed of its effects in your life”.

When we make a mistake, when we miss the mark, remember, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous One (1 John 2:1).  We must run to Him!  He knows what we are going through.  We do not need to be afraid.  He did not tear us apart for the sins that we have committed before we made Him Lord of your life, did He?  Then how much more merciful and loving do you think He will be now that we are His own?  Now that we are reaching out for Him and have a heart for Him?

“If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].”  1 John 1:9 (AMPC)

Do not run from God.  Run to Him.  Receive His forgiveness.  Receive His cleansing.  No matter how badly we have sinned, He is eager to forgive and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness.

“Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus.  I confess my sin (name it) before You today, that I may be rid of the negative effects in my life and draw closer to You.  Lord, thank you that You still love me and want what is best for me.  I choose to run towards You and towards righteousness.  Thank you for Your love and for Your forgiveness, thank you for setting me free.  Amen.”

My LFM family, run to God and just receive His Richest Love and Blessings as the gift He intended it to be.
