Religious tradition says that God gets glory when we bear up nobly under the agony of sickness and disease. However, that is not what the Bible says. The Bible says God gets glory when the blind sees and the lame walks and the maimed are made whole!
In most of India and here in most of Africa, where people have not been taught those kinds of religious traditions, when someone stands up and announces, “I come to you as a messenger from the Most High God”, people believe what he has to say. When they hear that Jesus, the King of kings, shed His blood for them; when they hear that He has sent His messenger to tell them that He will deliver them from sin and sickness and death today, they get excited. They do not argue with the Word of God. So, you know what happens?
People begin to get healed. People start throwing away their crutches and flinging off their bandages! When we learn to hear the Word of God like that, the same thing will happen to us. God is no respecter of persons. His Word works for everyone. It is how we receive it that makes the difference!
“When He went ashore and saw a great throng of people, He had compassion (pity and deep sympathy) for them and cured their sick. And a great multitude came to Him, bringing with them the lame, the maimed, the blind, the dumb, and many others, and they put them down at His feet; and He cured them, so that the crowd was amazed when they saw the dumb speaking, the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they recognized and praised and thanked and glorified the God of Israel.” Matthew 14:14, 15:30-31 (AMPC)
We must learn to take the Bible at face value again, when God’s Word tells us that He heals, we must BELIEVE that He heals. When God’s Word tells us that He sets us free, we must BELIEVE that He sets us free. God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. If it is in the Bible, and it was true yesterday, it IS true today, and it WILL be true tomorrow. God is Glorified when we live by faith and in obedience to His Word.
“Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I am sorry that I believed the devil when he told me that to suffer is noble, please forgive me for that. Thank you, Jesus, that I can not only know that by Your stipes I was healed, but that I can now also live in that reality. Holy Spirit, teach me to confess my healing and my freedom daily, and remind me walk in so that God can be glorified in me. Amen.”
